Frequently Asked Questions

*It is with heavy hearts that inform our customers that we can no longer alter wedding gowns. Our long time bridal seamstress has made the decision to retire and while we will miss her very much we support and thank her for her many wonderful years of service. At our store we have crafted a list of area seamstresses that you can contact to make arrangements for your bridal alterations. We do have seamstresses on site to alter prom, mothers and bridesmaid dresses.*

Q: While I love that you do not work by appointment, will someone be helping me while I am there?

A: Yes! We have a devoted staff of passionate people who will be assisting you with zippers and laces and the like. Even more importantly, they will give you honest opinions on style, selection, color and more.

Q: Other bridal shops have told me I can’t take any photos, do you allow them at your store?

A: Yes! We don’t have anything to hide. It’s your day … do things your way! All of the dresses are tagged with the designer name, price, color, size and any available changes that the designer will allow

Q: How do I adjust my bridesmaid order if I think I might be pregnant?

A: Order two sizes larger and request extra length to accommodate the baby bump.

Q: Why do you wait to order all of the bridesmaids’ dresses at one time?

A: We order them as a group to ensure the quality of the color. If they are ordered together, they are cut from the same dye lot of fabric. This assures that your dresses will be the same color tone.

Q:When do the tuxedos come in that we have ordered for my wedding or prom?

A: The tuxedos are due to be delivered the Wednesday before your event. But if they do come early we will be sure to give you a call!

Q: How does the alteration process work?

A: Alteration is the only service that we offer on an appointment-only basis. As soon as you have your shoes and undergarments give us a call and we will get you in as soon as possible.

Q: What should I bring to my alteration appointment?

A: When you are fitted you will need everything with you that you are wearing the day of your special event. The most important purchase to make before your appointment is SHOES. Your hem is pinned according to the heel you are wearing that day. Also, your bra and undergarments change the way your dress fits your body. To ensure a perfect fit, you will need to be wearing these garments during your fitting. Not to worry, we stock the best bras and cups. We also carry most of the top shoe brands available. If you need more information, visit the accessory page of the website.

Q: How long does it take to order shoes and accessories?

A: Shoes and jewelry usually take no more than four weeks. Quite often these are stocked items that can ship right away.

Q: Do I have to bring my dress home until I have alterations?

A: No. We are happy to keep your gown in the store until your final pick up day.

Q: Will you press my wedding gown?

A: Absolutely. We press your gown for your wedding — at no cost to you. - Please call the store if your gown was not purchased here.

Q: How does the bridesmaid ordering process work?

A: If your party is all local they can simply come by the store at their convenience anytime before the agreed upon deadline. We are happy to manage your bridesmaid order and see it through to completion.

Q: Where do you recommend that I have my gown cleaned and/or preserved?

A: We use a company that we love. We recommend that you bring your gown in after the wedding as soon as you can. The sooner you get it back to us the better. We give our brides a $20 discount.

Q: When I shop for my bridal gown, is it ok to come alone?

A: It is perfectly fine for you to come alone and, in fact, many ladies do this. As much as we love our family and friends, sometimes too many opinions can be overwhelming. We recommend that you keep your party small while shopping in order to be most effective, positive and fun. While shopping for bridesmaids dresses, it can work well for you to bring a couple girlfriends and just have fun.

Q: Do you buy back prom or wedding gowns?

A: Because each gown in custom to fit the original owner and hold their own memories, we DO NOT buy gowns.

Q: What do I do about bridesmaids and groomsmen that are out of town?

A: We deal with this on a daily bases. Simply ask the out of town members to go to reputable store near them and ask for measurement. This is most often done at no charge.

Q: What if I need alterations on a gown that was not purchased at Bonjulies?

A: Our seamstresses work very hard to keep up with our in house alterations that we simply cannot take on outside work.
